Welcome to our season’s opening night! The concert begins with Mélanie Bonis' tone poems for piano trio, Soir and Matin, as well as her Piano Quartet Op 69, a revolutionary and underrepresented work by one of the most gifted composers of the era. Culminating with Gabriel Fauré's piano Quartet in c minor Op 15, the concert showcases the French musical vocabulary, bringing to mind aspects of movement and light emphasized in Impressionist visual art. Pianists and cofounders Natalia Kazaryan and Christopher Schmitt will be joined by the New York based virtuosa violinist Amelia Dietrich, violist Allyson Goodman of the National Opera Orchestra, and cellist Loewi Lin of the National Symphony Orchestra.
