Felix Mendelssohn's older sister of three years, Fanny Mendelssohn, was a prolific composer, and the source of much of her brother's inspiration. Both siblings wrote piano trios and songs, as well as especially lyrical pieces for piano solo entitled “Songs without Words.” Enjoy the lesser known Fanny Mendelssohn's meticulously crafted works and unique brand of melody and expressiveness alongside those of Felix. Cofounders Natalia Kazaryan and Christopher Schmitt will be joined by Associate Concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra, violinist Ying Fu, and series regular, cellist Joseph Gotoff.

Program:

Fanny Mendelssohn - Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 11

Felix Mendelssohn - Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 49

The pre-concert reception begins at 6:30, followed by the concert at 7:30.
